Design Process: From Concepts to Implementation
Design process often depends on the company and the team structure. But here is the process I usually try to follow.
01 / Define
Define the user: Who is the user? What are their experiences? Pain points?
Define the problem: What do we want to solve and why?
02 / Research
Audit the existing products: What functionality can be impacted by the new change?
Understand usage: How do we want to impact the metrics?
Analyse competitors: How do competitors solve this problem?
03 / Plan
Set goals: What user outcomes we want to achieve? What about timeline? Client commitments?
Align with stakeholders: Business constraints? Client integration limitations?
04 / Ideate & Prototype
Explore solutions: Explore more than one solution
Create concepts: Which concept best solves the user problem?
Test and validate: A/B & usability testing
05 / Design specs
Provide specs: Provide final, high definition UI specs for the dev team
Schedule UX review: Monitor development for design and spec adherence; collaborate with QA; provide accessibility guidance
06 / Review the impact
Check usage: How users are using the new feature? Is it adopted? How are the metrics evolving?
Iterate on the design accordingly based on user/customer feedback
